An applicant who does not wish to pursue a degree program at The Catholic University of America but who wishes to follow courses independently or apply to a program required for a certificate (either for credit or as an auditor) may apply for admission as a non-degree student.
If you are applying for admission as a non-degree seeking student, you are required to submit the following materials:
All items should be submitted directly to the Office of University Admissions, 102 McMahon Hall, The Catholic University of America, 620 Michigan Avenue, NE, Washington, DC 20064.
Admission as a non-degree student is limited to a single semester or summer session, unless renewed by the dean of the school for registration in subsequent consecutive semesters or summer sessions. Registration for consecutive semesters will be approved for students completing a certificate program.
Non-degree students who subsequently wish to apply for degree study must file additional application documents and be accepted officially for degree study. Since the mere accumulation of courses will not satisfy degree requirements, one should consult the appropriate dean or department chair before enrolling.
For graduate-level courses: A non-degree seeking student may take up to nine graduate credits, which may be counted toward degree requirements if full acceptance to a degree program is granted.
Note regarding transcripts:
To take undergraduate coursework, a high school transcript (or the equivalent) showing receipt of a diploma must be submitted.
To take graduate coursework, a transcript showing college-level work and conferral of a degree must be submitted.
